"On September 10, 2025, the WTO circulated a notification from the United States regarding a final rule issued by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) under the Energy Conservation Program for Appliance Standards. The rule rescinds and amends certification, labeling, and enforcement provisions for certain consumer products and commercial/industrial equipment. This action repeals the DOE’s final rule published on 9 October 2024, previously notified as G/TBT/N/USA/2053/Add.1, which was nullified through a Congressional Review Act (CRA) resolution passed by both chambers of Congress and signed by the President on 9 May 2025, thereby becoming law. As a result, the 2024 rule no longer has legal effect, and DOE is required to remove the associated provisions from the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR). The effective date of this rescinding rule is 9 September 2025."
