On April 18, 2025, France banned the commercialization, importation, and marketing of dietary supplements containing Garcinia cambogia. This decision follows a report from the Anses (French Agency for Food, Environmental, and Occupational Health Safety) issued on March 5, 2025, highlighting severe adverse effects linked to the plant, including acute liver damage, cardiac issues, and psychiatric disorders. The ministerial decree of April 15, 2025, also mandates the withdrawal and recall of affected products. French authorities have informed the European Commission of this measure, awaiting harmonization at the European level.
