On 26 June 2026, Australian Industrial Chemicals Introduction Scheme (AICIS) published 11 final evaluation statements under Section 78 of the Industrial Chemicals Act 2019, following public consultation conducted from 1 April to 28 May 2026. 1) Phenol, 4,4'-thiobis[2-(1,1-dimethylethyl)-5-methyl-] received exposure-related comments, resulting in inclusion of Australian use information. 2) Retinal (Retinaldehyde) and Retinol and retinol esters received general, exposure, and hazard comments, leading to additional hazard information without changing recommendations. 3) Acetophenone received hazard comments, but no amendment was required. 4) 2-Pyrrolidinone, 4-Phenylbenzophenone, and Octocrylene received no public comments. Chemicals unlikely to require further regulation for human health received exposure comments, but no revision was necessary. 5) Alkyl and alkenyl betaines and amido betaines and Alcohol ethoxysulfates received exposure comments, resulting in updated Australian use information. 6) Methylene-bridged bisphenols received general and exposure comments, leading to removal of the recommended Aquatic Chronic 4 (H413) classification following reassessment of solubility data for DBMC.
