On 17 June 2026, Australian Industrial Chemicals Introduction Scheme (AICIS) published details of four Commercial Evaluation Authorisations issued under Section 58 of the Industrial Chemicals Act 2019. These authorisations permit businesses to import or manufacture industrial chemicals for commercial evaluation purposes before broader commercial introduction. The authorised chemicals include 1) Waste plastics, pyrolyzed, C5-55 fraction (AUTH30) for use as a feedstock for chemical and thermal cracking, valid from 9 October 2024 to 8 October 2028; 2) Tires, wastes, pyrolyzed, C5-70 oil fraction (AUTH31), also authorised as a feedstock for chemical and thermal cracking for the same period; 3) Biheteromonocycle, 1,1'-dimethyl-, chloride (1:2) (AUTH32), approved for use as an electrolyte for industrial applications from 26 February 2025 to 30 June 2026; and 4) Hexanedioic acid polymer with 1,4-butanediol, 1,6-hexanediol, α-hydro-ω-hydroxypoly[oxy(methyl-1,2-ethanediyl)] and 1,1′-methylenebis[4-isocyanatobenzene] (AUTH33), authorised for use as a component of industrial adhesives from 24 February 2026 to 24 February 2028. The publication enhances transparency regarding chemicals authorised for commercial evaluation under Australia's industrial chemicals regulatory framework.
