The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) has launched a public consultation on the harmonised classification and labelling (CLH) proposal for Chloroethane under the CLP Regulation. This initiative aims to ensure consistent hazard identification and communication for the substance across the European Union. The 60-day consultation invites stakeholders to submit scientific comments on specific hazard classes covered in the dossier, including physicochemical, human health, and environmental hazards and comments should be submitted by June 26, 2026. Contributions may include additional studies, data interpretations, or relevant evidence to support or challenge the proposed classifications. Only hazard endpoints opened in the consultation are considered. All submitted comments will be evaluated by ECHA's Risk Assessment Committee (RAC), which will develop a scientific opinion based on the available evidence. The final classification decision will be taken by the European Commission and, if adopted, incorporated into Annex VI of the CLP Regulation, ensuring harmonised implementation across EU Member States.
