European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) has proposed a major update to Annex VI of the CLP Regulation, aiming to harmonise the classification of over 100 substances already identified under frameworks like the REACH Regulation. The update targets substances such as siloxanes, PFAS, flame retardants, and endocrine disruptors, many of which will be classified as PBT, vPvB, or hazardous to human health, introducing new hazard labels and stricter rules. This will require manufacturers, importers, and downstream users to update labelling, safety data sheets, and product formulations, while also driving greater alignment across EU chemicals legislation and encouraging early compliance planning to minimise supply chain disruptions.
