The European Commission has published a simplification review of the revised EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR), alongside a package of measures aimed at ensuring smooth and effective implementation before the regulation becomes applicable at the end of 2026. The package follows the agreement reached by EU co-legislators in December 2025 and is intended to provide additional legal clarity, stability, and predictability for economic operators, Member States, third countries, and other stakeholders.
The measures introduced include a report submitted to the European Parliament and the Council, updated guidance documents and Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs), and a draft delegated act concerning the scope of products covered under the EUDR. Additionally, the Commission has presented an updated implementing act related to the EUDR Information System to Member States. The Commission stated that these actions support its commitment to simplify compliance requirements while maintaining the regulation’s environmental objectives.
