The National Pharmaceutical Regulatory Agency (NPRA) has directed that all Health Supplements (HS) and Over-the-Counter (OTC) products containing Vitamin B6 (pyridoxine) must include a warning statement regarding the risk of peripheral neuropathy. The decision follows safety assessments showing that prolonged or excessive Vitamin B6 intake may cause nerve damage, leading to symptoms such as tingling, numbness, and loss of sensation in the hands and feet. Marketing Authorization Holders (MAHs) are required to update product labelling within the specified compliance timeline. The measure aims to improve consumer awareness and ensure the safe use of Vitamin B6-containing products. It also aligns Malaysia's regulatory requirements with international safety recommendations.
