Thailand's Sub-committee on Development and Promotion of Simplified Nutrition Symbols has officially released Edition 4 of the Healthy Choice (ทางเลือกสุขภาพ) nutrient criteria, introducing stricter nutritional requirements for instant foods and snack products. The revised standards aim to reduce sodium, sugar, saturated fat, and calorie intake, supporting national efforts to combat non-communicable diseases (NCDs). Key changes include: Instant noodles, porridges, and soups will face tighter sodium and saturated fat limits, with some requirements being implemented in phases. Snack products, including potato chips, rice crackers, seaweed snacks, nuts, popcorn, and meat snacks, must meet stricter thresholds for calories, sugar, saturated fat, and sodium to qualify for the Healthy Choice logo. Several categories, such as seasoned seaweed and crispy meat snacks, will be subject to progressively lower sodium limits under a phased approach.
