"The Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) has issued an updated call, inviting academia, industry, and consumer groups to submit full scientific data relevant to the safety assessment of several cosmetic ingredients suspected of endocrine-disrupting properties. OPSS emphasises the need for complete study reports—especially those supporting NOAELs, points of departure, and dermal absorption values—and requests additional data where products may be used by children or pregnant women. All submissions must follow SCCS guidance and will undergo independent scientific review.
The assessment covers seven ingredients, including four benzophenones, ethylhexyl methoxycinnamate, triphenyl phosphate, and BHA. Confidential information should only be provided if relevant and clearly marked, as submissions may fall under FOIA. The Scientific Advisory Group on Chemical Safety will use a 70 kg default bodyweight assumption for adults in these assessments. The deadline for data submission is 31 March 2026."
