Ukraines new technical requirements for milk, dairy products, and spreadable fats have been issued by the Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine to align national standards with EU regulations. The framework establishes strict rules on product composition, classification, processing, and labeling, including defined limits such as
whole milk (?3.5% fat), skimmed milk (?0.5% fat) and butter (8090% milk fat), along with clear categorization of dairy and fat-based products.
It allows controlled modifications like fat standardization, protein enrichment, and lactose reduction, provided these are transparently declared. The regulation also enforces strict protection of dairy terminology, restricting names like milk and butter exclusively to genuine dairy products and prohibiting their use for plant-based alternatives. Additionally, it strengthens quality control through standardized sampling, compositional testing, and statistical compliance checks to ensure authenticity and prevent adulteration.
