On 1 April 2026 Australian Industrial Chemicals Introduction Scheme (AICIS), Department of Health and Aged Care, Australia opened a public consultation titled "Have your say! Draft evaluations open for public comment until 28 May 2026," inviting stakeholders to provide feedback on chemical safety assessments under the Industrial Chemicals Act 2019. The consultation covers 11 draft evaluation statements addressing 117 industrial chemicals, providing updated scientific and regulatory information on the safe use, import, and manufacture of these substances. The purpose of the evaluations is to support evidence-based decision-making and ensure that industrial chemicals continue to meet required health, safety, and environmental protection standards. Among these, three draft evaluation statements propose variations to Inventory terms of listing under Section 86 of the Industrial Chemicals Act 2019. These include Retinol and retinol esters (EVA00187), 2-Pyrrolidinone (EVA00193), and Methanone, [1,1'-biphenyl]-4-ylphenyl- (4-Phenylbenzophenone) (EVA00201). These substances are being reviewed for potential updates to their regulatory conditions based on updated scientific evidence and risk considerations. The consultation period remains open until 28 May 2026 at 11:59 pm (AEDT), allowing industry stakeholders, researchers, and the public to submit comments on the proposed evaluations and listing changes.
