The State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) has published an official notice to submit the draft revision of the Detailed Rules for the Evaluation of Production Licenses for Auxiliary Foods for Infants and Young Children to public consultation. This regulatory initiative, legally based on the Food Safety Law and the Administrative Measures for Food Production Licenses, aims to restructure the industrial review parameters required for the manufacture of paediatric nutritional supplements. The proposal suggests imposing on corporations in the agri-food sector the need to audit their processing lines against updated national food safety standards to ensure strict compliance of their facilities. Transnational manufacturers and operators must conduct a rigorous technical analysis of the regulatory annex to identify changes in infrastructure requirements, safety protocols, and quality control needed prior to the granting or renewal of commercial operating licenses. The peremptory and statutory period for submitting technical comments on this amendment project will inevitably end on August 1, 2026.
