China’s National Health Commission (NHC) released official guidance explaining the implementation of the National Food Safety Standard for Nutrition Labelling of Pre-packaged Foods (GB 28050-2025). The document clarifies which pre-packaged foods require nutrition labels, the mandatory nutrients to be declared (such as energy, protein, fat, carbohydrates, sugars, and sodium), and the format and calculation rules for nutrition information. The guidance aims to ensure uniform nutrition labelling and improve consumer understanding and transparency in the Chinese food market.
