Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) has commenced assessment of Application A1350 seeking approval for lysophospholipase from Trichoderma reesei (gene donor: Aspergillus niger) for use as a processing aid in carbohydrate processing at GMP.
The application, submitted by IFF Australia Pty Ltd proposes permitting the enzyme’s use in the production of glucose syrups and other starch hydrolysates. The enzyme would be considered for inclusion under Schedule 18—Processing Aids of the Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code.
According to the administrative assessment report, the application was received on 3 March 2026 and completed administrative review on 24 March 2026, confirming it has progressed for regulatory consideration. If ultimately approved, the enzyme could be authorized for use to support starch hydrolysis processes in food manufacturing.
