"Japan will hold a series of joint meetings of chemical substance subcommittees, including the 5th Chemical Substance Safety Subcommittee of the Pharmaceutical Affairs Council, the 2nd Safety Measures Subcommittee, the 250th Examination Subcommittee of the Chemical Substances Council, and the 257th Chemical Substances Review Subcommittee of the Environmental Health Subcommittee. The meetings will run on September 19, 2025 from 13:00 to 18:00 JST, with Part 1 (13:00–15:00) open to the public via live YouTube streaming and Part 2 (15:20–18:00) closed for confidential discussions on new chemical substances. Agenda items include the designation of prohibited import products such as chlorpyrifos, medium-chain chlorinated paraffin (MCCP), and long-chain perfluorocarboxylic acids (LC-PFCA), as well as primary risk assessments of priority chemical substances, including 1,4-dioxane and 2-benzylidene octanal.
