On 22 June 2026 Japan Consumer Affairs Agency (CAA) published a Call for Opinions on a draft Cabinet Office Ordinance Partially Amending the Consumer Safety Act Enforcement Regulations under the public consultation process established by the Administrative Procedure Act. The proposed amendments are issued pursuant to Article 12, Paragraph 4 of the Consumer Safety Act (Act No. 50 of 2009) and are intended to strengthen the implementation of the Act while enhancing the safety and security of citizens' lives. The consultation seeks feedback from stakeholders on the proposed revisions before the ordinance is finalized. The public comment period opened on 22 June 2026 and will close on 21 July 2026, during which interested parties may submit comments and observations on the draft amendments. Input received through this consultation will be considered in finalizing the revised enforcement regulations. The initiative reflects the Japanese government's commitment to maintaining an effective consumer safety framework through transparent rulemaking and stakeholder participation in the regulatory development process.
