"On 19 September 2025, Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW), and Ministry of the Environment (MOE) jointly released the 2026 notification schedule for new chemical substances, including low production volume chemicals. This process is regulated under Japan’s Chemical Substances Control Law (CSCL). The notification schedule covers ten submission rounds between October 2025 and December 2026, each with specific deadlines for preliminary screening and final document submission. Companies must provide substance property data, toxicity and environmental behaviour information, official notification forms, and supporting safety evaluations. Substances already notified may be resubmitted without re-evaluation. The 2027 schedule will be announced in September 2026."
