"Japan’s National Institute of Technology and Evaluation (NITE) released an update to its GHS-Compatible Model Label and Model Safety Data Sheet (SDS) Information database, adding 275 new chemical substances. The revision aligns with Japan’s adoption of the Globally Harmonized System (GHS) and the related Japanese Industrial Standards (JIS Z 7252, 7253, and 7254), providing updated classifications, hazard pictograms, and label templates for industry compliance. The newly listed substances include notable industrial and environmental chemicals such as perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA, CAS 335-67-1), perfluorooctane sulfonic acid (PFOS, CAS 1763-23-1), 1,4-dioxane (CAS 123-91-1), epichlorohydrin (CAS 106-89-8), and cobalt (CAS 7440-48-4) and so on. These additions reflect Japan’s continued focus on improving chemical hazard communication and strengthening risk management across manufacturing and supply chain sectors. "
