On 10 April 2026 Ministry of Environment (Taiwan) announced the initiation of a public consultation on a draft amendment to Item 1 of the "Item Recycling and Disposal Fee Rate," inviting stakeholders to provide feedback within a 60-day comment period following publication. The proposed amendment is issued under the legal framework of the Waste Disposal Act, specifically pursuant to Article 16, Paragraph 5, and follows procedural requirements in line with the Administrative Procedure Act. The draft revision focuses on updating the fee rate structure applicable to the recycling, clearance, and disposal of designated items. These fees are a key component of Taiwan's extended producer responsibility (EPR) system, ensuring that manufacturers and importers contribute to the costs associated with managing waste generated from their products. Adjustments to the fee schedule may reflect changes in recycling costs, market conditions, material recovery efficiency, and environmental policy priorities. The Ministry aims to enhance the effectiveness and sustainability of the resource recycling system by refining the fee framework to better align with current economic and environmental conditions.
