Thailands National Bureau of Agricultural Commodity and Food Standards (ACFS) has issued revised Sanitary and Phytosanitary (SPS) measures for the importation of peanut kernels due to persistent non-compliance with aflatoxin residue standards. The updated regulation, effective immediately upon publication in the Royal Gazette, replaces the previous announcement from July 2024. It introduces a three-tier inspection system: Monitoring Inspection for low-risk countries, Enhanced Monitoring Inspection for countries with higher non-compliance, and 100% Order Inspection for countries with severe and unresolved violations. Importers must take corrective actionssuch as improving product quality, returning shipments, or destroying non-compliant goodsand notify producers/exporters via the TAS-License system. If no corrective measures are reported by the exporting countrys authority, Thailand may suspend import approvals and reconsider trade relations to protect public health.
