"Health Canada’s Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA) has issued a notification (PMRL2025-21) to consult stakeholders on the proposed maximum residue limits (MRLs) for the pesticide isocycloseram in various food commodities. The draft establishes safe residue levels, measured in parts per million (ppm), for both raw agricultural commodities and processed products to ensure consumer safety.

Key proposed MRLs include:

0.04 ppm – Fat of cattle, goats, horses, and sheep

0.015 ppm – Meat by-products of cattle, goats, horses, and sheep

0.01 ppm – Fat of hogs and poultry; meat of cattle, goats, hogs, horses, poultry, and sheep; meat by-products of hogs and poultry; eggs; milk; barley, oats, rye, triticale, and wheat

The consultation allows stakeholders, including producers, exporters, and consumers, to provide comments before the limits are finalized. The initiative aligns with Health Canada’s commitment to maintaining food safety, protecting public health, and ensuring international trade compliance."
