"CHEMEXCIL (Basic Chemicals, Cosmetics & Dyes Export Promotion Council, under the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India) issued a circular to its members regarding the UK Government’s public consultation on the extension of UK REACH transitional registration deadlines.
The consultation, launched by the UK Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) on 14 July 2025 and closing on 8 September 2025, seeks industry feedback on revised registration deadlines to support the implementation of the Alternative Transitional Registration model (ATRm). Proposed deadline extensions under three options would move the current 2026–2030 deadlines to between 2029 and 2033, with the UK Government expressing preference for Option 1.
The consultation also requests views on extending deadlines for the UK Health and Safety Executive (HSE) to complete compliance checks on 20% of registration dossiers. CHEMEXCIL has urged Indian exporters of chemicals to the UK to review the proposals and submit comments to Defra before the closing date. The Council confirmed it will continue to provide updates on developments related to UK REACH."
