India’s Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers has extended the temporary suspension of the Linear Alkyl Benzene (Quality Control) Order, 2022 until 30 September 2026, postponing the mandatory enforcement of Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) certification requirements. The compliance mandate was originally scheduled to resume on 1 July 2026, but the government cited ongoing global supply chain disruptions and market pressures as reasons for the extension. The move is intended to ensure stable domestic availability of Linear Alkyl Benzene (LAB), a key raw material used in detergents and industrial chemical production. For manufacturers and importers, this provides a temporary compliance relief and greater flexibility in sourcing and distribution. The extension may help prevent short-term supply shortages and price volatility, particularly in India’s detergent, surfactant, and industrial cleaning product markets.
