Canada has issued a recall for Maison Gabriel Coulet brand Roquefort – La Cave cheese due to possible contamination with Listeria monocytogenes. The affected product is sold in 100 g wedge portions with the UPC 8 22775 00337 2, lot number 80825, and a best before date of November 3, 2025. This cheese was distributed in Ontario and Québec. Consumers are strongly advised not to consume, use, sell, serve, or distribute the recalled product. Listeria monocytogenes is a dangerous bacterium that may not alter the appearance or smell of food but can still cause serious illness. Symptoms include nausea, vomiting, persistent fever, muscle aches, severe headaches, and neck stiffness. Vulnerable populations such as pregnant women, the elderly, and immunocompromised individuals are at higher risk. In pregnant women, even mild symptoms can lead to severe outcomes for the fetus, including premature birth or stillbirth. Consumers who believe they may have consumed the product and are experiencing symptoms should contact a healthcare provider. The CFIA is continuing its food safety investigation, and further recalls may follow if additional products are found to be affected.
