The European Commission has proposed strengthening support for the implementation of the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) by suggesting an additional 12-month phase-in period for operators and traders. This proposal responds to feedback from global partners and stakeholders, aiming to give businesses more time to adapt while maintaining the regulation’s deforestation-prevention goals. The Commission also announced enhanced assistance for partner countries, including financial aid, capacity building, and technical support, to help them comply with EUDR requirements. These adjustments are intended to ensure a fair, inclusive, and effective rollout of the regulation worldwide.
