On 13 April 2026 Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA), Australia issued a safety advisory titled "Understanding your responsibilities when importing, compounding and supplying unapproved peptide products," highlighting growing regulatory and public health concerns related to the use and distribution of unapproved peptide-based therapeutic goods. The advisory explains that peptides are short chains of amino acids that can influence biological processes such as growth, metabolism, and tissue repair. While some peptide medicines, including insulin, are approved and listed on the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods (ARTG), many products currently being imported, supplied, compounded, or promoted online are not approved by the TGA.
