On May 8, 2025, the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM) announced the implementation of the electronic Halal Certification (e-Cert) system for the Sijil Pengesahan Halal Malaysia (SPHM), effective from May 5, 2025. This initiative aligns with the Malaysian government's agenda to digitize public services under the Malaysia Madani framework, aiming to enhance efficiency and reduce bureaucratic processes. Under the new system, all approved SPHM applications processed by JAKIM, State Islamic Religious Councils (MAIN), or State Islamic Religious Departments (JAIN) on or after May 5, 2025, will be issued electronically. Applicants can access and print their Halal certificates through the MYeHALAL system. For those requiring physical copies, a formal request must be submitted, and a reprint fee will apply as stipulated in Clause 13 of the 2020 Malaysian Halal Certification Procedure Manual (Domestic). JAKIM remains committed to embracing innovation and enhancing human capital development to ensure the integrity and efficiency of Halal certification processes in Malaysia.
