The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has temporarily suspended the import of poultry meat, eggs, and their products from the Maine-et-Loire region of France following the confirmation of a Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) outbreak reported to the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH) on 17 April 2026.

The measure was adopted in line with Chapter 10.4 of the WOAH Terrestrial Animal Health Code to prevent the introduction of the HPAI virus into Saudi Arabia.

The suspension applies to poultry meat, eggs, and related products originating from Maine-et-Loire, France. However, processed poultry meat and egg products subjected to heat treatment or other approved virus-inactivation processes may continue to be imported, provided they comply with Saudi health requirements and are accompanied by official certification from the competent French authorities confirming the products are free from the virus.
