Taiwan's Ministry of Agriculture (MOA) has issued Announcement No. 1150042764, establishing the Transitional Enforcement Principles for Labelling Requirements of Certified Livestock Products – Shelf-Stable Milk Products. Effective immediately upon publication on 10 June 2026, the measure provides manufacturers with additional time to comply with revised labelling requirements for certified shelf-stable milk products.
The transitional policy follows amendments made to the Certified Livestock Products Verification Standards – Dairy Products Section. Under the revised standards, shelf-stable milk products must indicate specific pasteurization or sterilization conditions, including processing temperature and duration, replacing the previous requirement to state only the sterilization method. The updated labelling requirement is scheduled to take effect on 1 July 2026.
According to the Ministry, the transition period was introduced in response to industry concerns regarding packaging supply constraints. Since commonly used packaging materials for shelf-stable milk products, such as aseptic cartons, are largely imported, some manufacturers may face difficulties updating packaging inventories within the original implementation timeframe.
Under the new enforcement principles, all packaging printed on or after 1 July 2026 must display the required pasteurization or sterilization conditions. However, packaging produced before that date that continues to use the previous sterilization-method labelling may remain in circulation until 30 June 2027. The transitional arrangement aims to facilitate a smooth regulatory transition while maintaining compliance with the revised dairy product certification standards.
