On June 16, 2026, the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) updated its Registry of Classification and Labelling (CLH) Intentions Until Outcome to confirm that the harmonised classification and labelling (CLH) proposal for 1,3-dioxolane (CAS No. 646-06-0; EC No. 211-463-5) has been withdrawn. The proposal, originally submitted by the Dutch Competent Authority (MIDU) in 2019, aimed to retain the existing harmonised classification as Flammable Liquid Category 2 (H225) while adding classifications for Eye Irritation Category 2 (H319) and Reproductive Toxicity Category 1B (H360D) based on new scientific evidence. However, the dossier was withdrawn on June 10, 2026, before progressing to public consultation or scientific evaluation by ECHA’s Committee for Risk Assessment (RAC). With the registry updated on June 16, 2026, ECHA confirmed that no new harmonised hazard classifications will be adopted under this proposal, and the existing Annex VI classification for 1,3-dioxolane remains unchanged.
